Book: “Citizens in Action” by Stephanie Vance
Citizens in Action: A Guide to Lobbying and Influencing Government
Every so often I hope to write a book review which you might find useful and post a link so you can buy it. Your purchase of books and products through the link in this article (above) or in the Guardian Advocates.com Bookstore helps support this blog.
I never wrote a book review before, so here goes with a very brief one. Stephanie Vance provides a fantastic road map for citizen advocacy. I was fortunate enough to hear her speak on citizen advocacy in Washington, DC and obtain an autographed copy. This guide is indispensable for citizens or associations who want to go to DC or their state capitol and influence legislators on issues they feel strongly about. In plain language, it lays out exactly what you need to do to be an effective advocate. It’s not easy for any of us to take time off from our endeavors and exercise our Constitutional rights. By following the steps in this book, you will spend your time more effectively. Advocacy concerning guardianship, guardianship reform, and legislation is no exception.
