About Us
Guardian Advocates.com is an ongoing project designed to provide useful information and advice to the general public about guardianship, helpful advice and practice management tools for guardians and guardianship attorneys, and discussion of thought-provoking ideas and observations about guardianship practice.
Guardian Advocates .com was created by Michael Johnson. He has served as Washington State Certified Professional Guardian for about 10 years. He is a former Co-President of the Washington Association of Professional Guardians (WAPG). He also continues to participate in parent/guardian groups advocating for residents of state-operated facilities for the developmentally disabled, engaging in legislative advocacy at the Congressional and state levels.
Michael also brings 13 years’ legal experience as a solo practitioner. His law practice focuses on guardianship for the severely developmentally disabled. He is a member of the WSBA Elder Law Section, the King County Bar Association Elder Law & Guardianship Section, Appellate Law Section, and Judiciary & Litigation Committee, and the Tacoma Pierce County Guardianship Section. He successfully petitioned the Washington Supreme Court to review a case concerning guardianship advocacy. He is a graduate of the University of Washington (J.D. 1998).
His current project is Guardian Advocates.com. Guest posts are invited and Guardian Advocates is updated frequently with new information and other resources we think you will find engaging and helpful.
